The Australian Institute of Architects has announced the winners of the 2017 Tasmanian Architecture Awards.
Among the awarded practices was Room 11, who received a number of awards and commendations for projects including Shambles Brewery, D’Entrecasteaux House and Nelson House projects. Thomas Bailey from Room 11 was also acknowledged with the Emerging Architect Prize.
Another notable presence at the awards was John Wardle Architects, who won the Alexander North Award for Interior Architecture and the Roy Sharrington Award for Heritage Architecture for its restoration of Captain Kelly’s Cottage.
Sunnybanks House also appeared several times at the awards. The project by Core Collective architects took home awards for Residential Architecture – Houses (New), Sustainable Architecture and Steel Architecture.
Named award and award winners will now progress to the National Architecture Awards, which will be announced in Canberra on 2 November.
