Next Thursday, 72 of Australia’s best architectural projects will go head to head at the 2017 National Architecture Awards. Before that happens, the AIA is bringing together this year’s winners from NSW to talk density, form and adaptation in residential architecture.

To be held in Sydney next Tuesday, the discussion will feature new houses, alterations and additions, and multi-residential projects from this year’s NSW Architecture Awards. Nine award-winning projects – representing some of the best residential architecture in the state – will be presented by their architects.

Among these projects is Jac by Panovscott. This dwelling in the Sydney suburb of Dulwich Hill saw a rear addition to a 1907-built house, centred around a Jacaranda tree. The name ‘Jac’ is a reference to this 116-year-old tree that sits on the site, which formed a pivotal aspect of the design process.

Other featured projects include 2016 Sustainability Awards winner 88 Angel St by Steele Associates Architects, Solis: Little Bay Apartments by Fox Johnston, and Coogee House by Chenchow Little.

The talk will take place on Tuesday 31 October at Tusculum in Potts Point.
