A number of Australian projects and products have been shortlisted for the fourth International Green Interior Awards.
From a shortlist of 29 global projects, 14 are Australian. They now stand up against submissions from Canada, Holland, Hong Kong, USA, UK, Switzerland, South Africa and Poland for the final awards stage.
Among the shortlisted Australian projects is 2016 Sustainability Awards winner Alexandria Residence by CplusC Architectural Workshop. The two-bedroom terrace house, located in Sydney’s inner west, features an internal courtyard and LED lighting fixtures. Energy use is reduced through a solar hot water system and 1.5kW photovoltaic power generation system, which could potentially charge a future electric car.
An Australian product on the shortlist is Brightgreen’s carbon-neutral D900 Curve Surface Downlight. With a pure aluminium unibody engineered for passive thermal control, the lighting innovation eliminates the need for cut outs and holes in insulation. It also requires 50 percent less energy than standard recessed lights.
Solely focused on the integration and creation of green interior products, the International Green Interior Awards acknowledges the best healthy, ethical and environmental interior solutions around the world.
Winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a ceremony to be held in Sydney on 27 July.
