The Barangaroo Delivery Authority yesterday put the call out for the ‘world’s best in urban planning, urban design and architecture professions’ to master plan the 5.2 hectare central precinct by Sydney Harbour.
The Authority has just released the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to seek an experienced and highly qualified team to provide master planning services for Barangaroo Central.
It is a national and international search for the team to help shape Barangaroo.
CEO of the Authority, John Tabart said: “This is a rare opportunity for the future of Sydney. What is eventually designed at Barangaroo Central will shape how people experience Barangaroo in the future.”
“On the western edge of Sydney’s CBD, Barangaroo is a 22 hectare former container port, being transformed into a vital new extension of the city, as a new global financial hub and the spectacular Headland Park.”
David McCracken, Development Director, Barangaroo Delivery Authority said: “Barangaroo Central is an integral part of Barangaroo, planned to be a stimulating new place with commercial and cultural development, creating spaces for living work and leisure.”
“We are looking for a world class team, with the skills and experience to collaborate with the Authority to provide master planning services that achieve the vision and objectives for Barangaroo Central.”
Bob Nation, Design Director for Barangaroo added: “A key objective of Barangaroo is design excellence, and the process is looking to procure an experienced and capable team of experts to contribute to this great new part of Sydney.”
The successful team will provide the following services:
-
A conceptual vision for the Central Master Plan
-
Revised Concept Plan pertaining to Central
-
The Central Master Plan
-
Land use planning framework and staging land release plan
-
Public domain plan and whole of site integration
