Bovis Lend Lease will develop the urban area of Melbourne Park as part of the $20 million 2010 works package.

The project is the initial component of Stage 1 of the Melbourne Park Redevelopment, which is valued at $363 million in total. It will involve:

- the installation of a 4.5 mega-litre stormwater retention tank under the oval next to Rod Laver Arena

- an extension and landscaping works to the Rod Laver Arena Western Concourse along Batman Avenue to house water treatment and water storage facilities, as well as the Australian Open marquees

- a landscape upgrade to the Oval

- new entry stairs to Rod Laver Arena

The stormwater tank will form an integral part of an innovative water management system by supplying recycled stormwater for re-use throughout the precinct.

Work on the water tank is expected to commence in late April. The 2010 works package is scheduled to be completed prior to the 2011 Australian Open.
