About 500 new homes in Newington have had Skydome skylights installed as part of a 12 year Mirvac/Lend Lease Village Consortium project.

The project, which began in 1997 and was completed in March this year in collaboration with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority, included the development of over 1,800 residences in Newington. The aim was to provide accommodation for the Olympic athletes at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games as well as create an integrated housing development and a new suburb in Sydney.

Skydome skylights were installed in the new homes to bring natural light to bathrooms with no windows, while also saving energy. The skylights are available in a wide range of sizes and models to suits all building applications and roofs. They come in square and rectangular variations as well as circular and pyramid shapes.

They are glazed to protect from UV rays with 99 per cent UV blockout, and are available in opal, clear and tint glazing. Manufactured from raw materials sourced within Australia, Skydome skylights are entirely weather-proof. Accessories for skylights include heat control blinds, decorative diffusers, security grilles and mechanical ventilation.
