The Waters Edge residential development located in the Rhodes Waterside precinct is now complete, and is a demonstration of one of Mirvac’s many environmentally sustainable residential designs.
Australian supplier of fittings and fixtures for the kitchen and bathroom – GWA Group Limited – was chosen by Mirvac as a supplier for the project.
To minimise energy use and long-term carbon footprint, environmentally sustainable design principles were employed, including energy and water consumption efficiency.
All common property landscaped areas are connected to a district recycled water system for irrigation, as are the apartments, for use in laundries and toilets to reduce water usage. Hot water is provided by a centralised, energy efficient, natural gas hot water system.
GWA Bathrooms and Kitchens, supplied a full schedule of fixtures and fittings including low water use appliances such as dual flush toilets, low flow taps and pressure controlled shower heads in addition to bath tubs and basins.
Commenting on the project, Mirvac Design’s Senior Interior Designer, Michelle Astudillo said, “For the Rhodes, Waters Edge Apartments we selected GWA products to achieve a balance between function and aesthetics, assisting in meeting the sustainable design requirements for the development as well as offering clean lines and a modern yet timeless feel which is perfect for our target market.”
The bathrooms feature Irwell’s Pin Lever Basin Mixer, which are constructed from solid brass with a chrome finish and ergonomically designed lever for easy control of hot and cold water flow. Irwell’s Mixer also achieves a WELS 5 Star rating to reduce domestic water usage and greenhouse gas emissions.
The Caroma Liano Inset Vanity Basin has been featured in apartment bathrooms, bringing to the space strong square angles, slim walls and softened edges. The basin incorporates a generous bowl area as well as a flush fitting plug and waste.
Stylus Venecia close coupled Toilet Suite, chosen for the bathrooms, has been designed to provide low cost maintenance by incorporating easy to clean rounded surfaces combined with smooth, curved edges while Stylus’ water saving technology achieves the suite a WELS 4 Star Rating.

The bathrooms also feature Caroma’s Retro Shower Head made from durable solid brass with a brilliant chrome finish. The Retro shower head also reduces water use without compromising on performance, achieving a 3-star WELS rating for water efficiency.
The Clark Eureka Cabinet and Tub offers a clean, contemporary design for the apartment laundries and features a rust-proof white Permacoat finish and child resistant latch. The tub is housed within the cabinet and features a deep bowl. The Caroma Retro Basin Set has been paired with the Tub and achieves a WELS 5 star rating for water saving efficiency.

In our experience, GWA’s level of service, innovative product design, reliability of supply and durability of the product is exemplary. “
