NSW residential home builder, Alkira Home shave applied alternative construction techniques in eight display homes to cut construction times and limit the amount of trades required on-site.

The eight display homes, found at ‘Homeworld V’ in Kellyville and ‘Homeville South’ in Camden, have used Hebel PowerClad - distinctive exterior walls that appear like brick render, though are actually made of an aerated concrete material.

Hebel PowerClad was designed as a cladding system that uses 1350mm and 1800mm steel reinforced Aerated Concrete panels that are simply glued and screwed to an adjustable channel system.

Designed so it can be installed by a carpenter, it eliminates the need for bricklayers on site and reduces site costs.

Principal of Alkira Homes, Michael Kingapproved the use of the product and said, “The fact we didn’t have to have any more trades on site in addition to the decrease in building times means we can lower our costs and pass that on to our customer.”

“Of the eight homes completed so far, we’re averaging 3-4 days to install PowerClad and if we were doing it with traditional brickwork it would easily take us 7-10 days. It basically cuts the construction time in half, which benefits everyone,” said Michael.
