An exclusive tri-level property, dubbed the largest project of its kind in Australia and featuring walls and floors by Honestone, is underway in Paddington, Sydney.
The building is being completely revamped from a series of offices into a three bedroom, sizeable penthouse abode.
Baker Kavanagh Architects and HTC Builders have begun to covert the existing building but constraints of the site and the existing building’s structure have required innovative and detailed solutions.
Flooring and wall solution specialist Honestone has come on board to evoke complex, cutting edge detail to the home.
“The client wanted an industrial feel so we created some bolt-like indents in the feature walls in the bedrooms and the entrance using panDOMO Wall in a soft grey finish, to replicate precast concrete panels,” said Honestone director Rick Hendriks.
“With the floors, we needed to incorporate the client’s request for an internal heated flooring system and because of the existing timber floor take into account the weight factor, so we are working with a thin, rapid cure screed.”
“We used a high density polystyrene foam to minimise screed material and weight,” he added.
Due to the tight space Honestone needed to use a machine new to Australia called a trailer mounted screed pump, which allowed them to mix their products in the basement and feed it to the appropriate floors through a line tube.
Mr Hendriks said the type of finish used in this instance was ideal for unlimited spaces, including retail stores and showrooms, high end residential properties, shopping malls, manufacturing spaces, restaurants and office and commercial enterprises, schools and communal outdoor areas – to name a few.
