Sydney’s new $82 million Norwest Private Hospital, based in the Norwest Business Park precinct, has utilised Construction Specialties’ Acrovyn wall and door protection in its construction.

Constructed by A.W. Edwards, the hospital is a four-storey, 23,000 sqm facility housing 171 beds and 10 operating theatres.

To protect the Norwest Private Hospital’s internal lining from dam age, Health Projects International (HPI) architects specified a combina tion of five Construction Specialties Acrovyn products, including handrails, crashrails, door and door frame protection and corner guards throughout the building.

“Acrovyn is suitable for hospital applications because it effectively protects hospital infrastructure due to its robust material composition, requires minimal maintenance and the large colour range available assisted us in achieving our interior design objective, being a smart con temporary look,” says Hai Sun Tan, architect specifier for HPI.

Over 1,300 sqm of door protection product, 1,800m of handrails and crashrails and 1,200 corner guards were used on the project. The Chinchilla grey and the Pumice shade of white were selected to meld with the different tones on the inside walls.

The corner guards used were a combination of Acrovyn and stainless steel, which are suitable for heavy duty areas subject to regular damage from sharp and heavy forces such as electric trolleys and heavy medical equipment.
