Flowcrete Middle East has installed its designer terrazzo Mondéco floor system at Miele’s new gallery in Dubai, providing a sleek white underfoot canvas to put the German manufacturer’s high end domestic appliances and other commercial kitchen equipment on centre stage.
Located in the Sama Tower on the Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, the two-floor gallery is designed to showcase more than 80 appliances on the lower floor, and includes a mezzanine level, to cater for a variety of events including product launches, training sessions and live cooking lessons.
Flowcrete’s seamless terrazzo epoxy resin finish has been installed across both levels of the 1,800 square metre store and pre-cast treads and risers have been included on the connecting stairwell to present a seamless finish between the showroom and mezzanine.
Specified in a contemporary, crisp white shade from the Mondéco Crystal range to fit with the gallery’s full white setting, the floor contains a decorative blend of recycled crystal, glass and mirror glass aggregates in the mix, to give the floor finish added depth and individuality.
“The Miele gallery is a unique facility, with a breath-taking interior design scheme, which creates a memorable experience for visitors,” said Flowcrete’s Australasia Manager, Sean Tinsley.
“The use of the Mondéco terrazzo system across both levels of the venue serves as the perfect stage to showcase the brand’s up-market appliances,” Sean said.
“Mondéco has the stunning, luxury feel of traditional terrazzo, with the ability to introduce a wide variety of colors and aggregates to the mix for a bespoke floor that really stands up to wear and tear,” he added.
As well as creating a beautiful and durable finish, the floor was able to comply with the client’s environmental standards, as well as assist the project to qualify for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits from the Emirates Green Building Council.
The floor met the sustainability requirements based on criteria including recycled content - both pre-consumer and post-consumer - low emitting materials (low VOC content), recyclable packaging and local production.
