Aurecon, provider of engineering, management and specialist technical services for public and private sector clients globally, has joined the One Planet Alliance as Founding Members.
Using 10 guiding principles as a framework, One Planet Living will aim to help guide communities, governments, and organisations to address a range of sustainability issues to ultimately enable a high quality life within a fair share of the earth’s resources.
Digby Hall, Aurecon’s Sustainability Leader in New South Wales said, “Becoming Founding Members was a logical progression for Aurecon, and another way of signalling to our staff and clients that we are serious about achieving sustainable design and efficient operational outcomes.”
“Aurecon is already applying many of the One Planet Living principles to our projects through project design, construction and operation phases. We use the framework to help organisations benchmark their ecological performance and to support action to reduce their carbon and energy costs, waste and fleet emissions, and to strengthen their social performance and value,” added Hall.
The One Planet Alliance, established by One Planet Living and BioRegional Australia, is the first stage in what will become an International Network in 2014.
Pooran Desai, Co–Founder of BioRegional and One Planet Living said, “BioRegional is proud to welcome Aurecon as a Founding Member of the One Planet Alliance. This demonstrates Aurecon's commitment to addressing sustainability issues on everything they do, from the projects that they work on to the way the organisation is run. They really are industry leaders.”
Jeff Robinson Aurecon’s Sustainability Competency Leader said, “One Planet Living provides a world class framework for sustainable community planning. After measuring the environmental performance we can show urban planners and infrastructure providers how reductions can be made on a community scale through clever design.”
