The Green Building Council of Australia and Austrade have launched a resource to promote Australia’s green building capabilities.

It includes a green building capability directory and marketing documents.

The resource was released to coincide with World Green Building Week.

According to the GBCA’s Executive Director — Advocacy and International, Robin Mellon, Australia has world-leading experience, systems, products and technologies, as well as some of the world’s greenest buildings and communities.

“Australia has a well-established and growing green building market, with more than 12 million square metres of Green Star-certified or registered building space. Australian companies are well placed to develop green projects globally, and the GBCA and Austrade are working together to ensure our industry maximises international opportunities,” Mellon says.

Mellon singled out a number of Australian companies delivering exemplar green projects globally include the Kann Finch Group, which provided green design solutions to the Masdar project in the UAE. PTW architects designed the Watercube National Swimming Centre for the Beijing Olympics which featured a number of green design aspects, while Lend Lease’s AUD$1billion 313@somerset development on Orchard Road in Singapore has achieved the highest sustainability recognition in Singapore with a Platinum Green Mark rating.

“The GBCA will be working closely with Austrade to identify opportunities to ensure Australia’s green building industry capitalises on opportunities in the new green economy,” Mellon says.
