Tubular stainless steel manufacturer Bendtech has recently been listed in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), making it the only TGA registered grab rail manufacturer nationwide.

Having recently received TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) registration, Bendtech CEO and Managing Director Tim Shalders said the company’s extensive range of stainless steel products were now registered within Australia’s therapeutic industries as medical devices.

“We recently undertook an independent Australian Standards compliance report to ensure that our products comply with both the Australian Standards and Building Code of Australia and essentially any product that has been designed for the public health or age care industries should comply with both, although many products available in the market do not,” Mr Shalders said.

“We have found the aged care and hospital building and construction companies have embraced our products, now being TGA registered and independently certified, because we are currently the only supplier that offers that guarantee,” he added.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration is a regulatory arm of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aging. The TGA works with consumers, health professionals, industry leaders and its international counter-parts to effectively regulate increasingly complex products resulting from innovative developments.

Based on a risk management approach, the TGA determines the level of evaluation of therapeutic goods before they are marketed and continue to consistently monitor regulated products once they are on the market.
