The nine category winners for designEX and Form & Function’s 2008 annual New Product Awards have been announced. Judges selected winners that best exemplified excellence in design and manufacture, innovative features, ergonomic design, functionality, aesthetics, durability, versatility, safety features, commercial viability and environmental sensitivity.
Award winners include:
- Bathroomware: Dyson Airblade by Dyson Appliances. The Airblade uses up to 80 per cent less energy and dries hands in 12 seconds, 10 seconds faster than other standard dryers. Additionally, the Airblade removes 99.9 per cent of bacteria from air
- Flooring: Liquid Floor by Academy Tiles. The Liquid tiles are a stain proof, non-slip interactive floor
- Doors/Windows: Overlap by Designed Blinds Australia. Overlap panels can be made up to 5m in length
- Lighting: Linear Dimmerable GU10 Reflector 11W Lamp by Megaman Lighting. It offers 100 per cent smooth dimming functionality and a performance 10,000 hours of lamp life
- Kitchen Appliances: Elica Collection Star Cookerhood by Integrated Appliance Group. The ceiling mounted extractor hood shines courtesy of hundreds of small glass prisms, creating a dynamic lighting effect
- Form & Function Best New Product: High Performance Bushfire Weepa by Weepa Products. The design of the Weepa takes mandatory spark proofing of weepholes in bushfire prone areas in a new direction. Weepa’s new contribution to the market is CSIRO certified
