An innovative structural insulated panel housing concept home has been recognised with a number of awards in Queensland.
Bondor's ‘InsulLiving’ project has won the Queensland Industry Innovation Award at 2012 HIA - CSR Queensland Housing Awards for its energy efficient home system.
Its designer, Jeff Osman from Osman Designpac Building Designers, won three awards for Brisbane South in the categories of: Sustainable Building; Public Buildings and Special Projects; and Best Use of Colorbond Steel.
The five-year project, which saw a prototype home completed in August last year in Burpengary, Brisbane, was created to be a solution that offers comfortable and affordable eight-star energy rated living.
Using panel construction methods, the project reports a reduced build time by over 30 per cent compared to traditional methods, using the InsulWall and SolarSpan products.
Bondor says it amounts to savings on energy bills in excess of 50 per cent.
InsulLiving National Project Manager Steve Cramb accepted the latest award from building and construction authority QLeave’s Andrew Stephenson.
“Of all the awards we could have won, innovation is the most important to us. It sums up exactly what we were trying to develop when we began working on InsulLiving. We are very proud of what we achieved,” Cramb said.
Earlier this year, the project was recognised for its design at the Building Designers Association of Queensland’s (BDAQ) Regional Awards.
HIA’s Queensland Regional Director Warwick Temby said the HIA awards recognised the achievements, both of companies and individuals in the Queensland region who lead the way in the professionalism, design, construction, innovation and technology in housing.
