Melbourne’s South Wharf project has been completed, adding a further dimension to the $1.4 billion Convention Centre development.
The South Wharf has been fitted out with a 5 star office tower, a deluxe hotel, plus numerous cafés, restaurants, bars, shops and cinemas.
The project has also involved the transformation of the wharf area from a derelict space into a harbourside lookout.
Boral Timber’s hardwood decking has been vertically installed along the edge of the promenade down to the surface of the water.
Adorning the full length of the promenade, which is more than 1 km long, 240 cubic metres of decking was required.
Boral Timber’s Spotted Gum species was selected due to its durability, density, rich hues and its premium positioning as an Australian species.
The timber was specially treated with an ACQ treatment in order to provide maximum resilience.
