Brookfield Multiplex has been appointed as the design and construct contractor for the new hotel and redevelopment of Sydney's Star City Casino.
The project involves the construction of a new 13-storey hotel and the extension of the Casino building along the Pirrama Road frontage. The hotel and casino complex will comprise a 5 star hotel with 252 rooms, reorientation of the casino towards the harbour, expansion of the main gaming floor, a spa, gym, retail and restaurant precinct, improved amenities and parking for 500 cars.
The new hotel will be the first major 5 star hotel built in the Sydney CBD since the 2000 Olympic Games.
The project, which is expected to create about 1,000 jobs during the construction phase and 700 jobs once the development is complete, is due to commence immediately and be completed by late 2011.
