More than a hundred products designed for the bathroom and selected by the Italian Association for Industrial Design ADI will be displayed at a world preview at Cersaie 2013.

Held between 23 – 27 September 2013, the exhibition of products and materials will explore the development of the bathroom over the last few decades, focusing in particular on aesthetic innovations and the use of the most advanced technologies.

A timeline of the design and industrial processes that occurred between 1998 and 2012 will be traced through a display of the products published in the ADI Design Index, the annual publication containing examples of Italian design chosen by the ADI Permanent Design Monitor.

These examples have been carefully selected by experts over the years from a wide range of bathroom furnishing products submitted every three years to the coveted “Compasso d’Oro” award.

The displayed products, hosted in an approximately 400 square metre area as part of the visual exhibit, are the result of a further selection of the 178 products by 110 companies (including many exhibitors at Cersaie) published in the ADI Design Index.

“This exhibition offers an important insight into social trends. As always, design is closely bound up with behaviour, customs and culture, and ultimately with anthropology,” said professor Carlo Branzaglia, Chairman of ADI’s Emilia Romagna Delegation and a member of the exhibition’s Scientific Committee.

“Italian ceramics and design are two closely-related sectors, the manufacturing versatility of the former finding fertile ground for experimentation in the latter,” added Vittorio Borelli, Chairman of Confindustria Ceramica’s Promotional and Trade Fairs Activities Committee.
