The latest market report from the Property Council of Australia reveals low vacancy rates in Perth rental offices has prompted an increasing number of tenants to refurbish their existing office.
According to interior design and construction company Valmont, Perth's CBD office vacancy rates have dropped since July 2011 from 7.8 per cent to 3.3 per cent.
"Our Valmont Perth office is currently receiving a high level of enquiries for fit outs that enable smart business owners to increase their number of staff, without having to search for new premises," said Valmont Director, Sergio Pires.
Currently there is a shortage of large sized spaces or continuous space (e.g. level 2-5) to accommodate the positive flow on effect from the mining, resources markets and other sectors developing their Perth businesses.
For companies considering a refurbishment, Sergio Pires recommends utilising an office space to its full potential by doubling breakout spaces as team meeting and brainstorming areas, using a bench style workstation and creating informal meeting spaces to divide working areas which can then be removed in the event of expansion and replaced with workstations.
