esignbuild Australasia, staged at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre in June 2007, was not only the largest trade exhibition for the industry ever held in Sydney, but was also the most eco-friendly, with a major focus on sustainability and green building. According to organisers Diversified Exhibitions Australia, the exhibition occupied 20,000m2 of floor space and hosted 460 exhibitors from 17 countries including major groups from Canada, China and Malaysia. The Designbuild Green Building Seminars were staged with support from the Green Building Council of Australia, the Australian Architecture Association and BCI Australia. The program included two Australian Architecture Association tours of environmentally sustainable buildings in Sydney, led by architect Tone Wheeler.
The Environ/Designbuild ESD Product Awards were judged by sustainability experts Ed Warcaba and Andrew Walker-Morison along with Kevin Gomez, managing editor of Environ, BPN and InfoLink Magazines. The Winner of the ESD Best Water Saving Product was Watersave Australia for their Shower Monitor. Clearwater Technology with their Aquacell Water Recycling Systems was the runner-up. The Winner of the ESD Best Energy Saving Product was Robert Bosch (Australia) for their Highflow Continuous Flow Hot Water Systems. Rinnai Australia with their Dry-Soft Gas Clothes Dryer was the runner-up. The Winner of the Most Innovative ESD Product was Urimat for their Waterless Urinal. Dux Manufacturing with their Readyhot Water Recirculation System was runner-up. The winners were presented with crystal trophies by Michelle Grady, Associate Publisher of Environ, BPN and InfoLink.
