Tight economic climes tend to bring out the creative, resourceful strengths in us all, especially in the areas of home renovation and DIY.

White Knight Paints reports huge interest in its fast but effective renovation finishes such as Rust Guard, Squirts and Tile Paint, as consumers opt to reinvent or revamp existing fixtures and furniture rather than replace with new.

Council clean ups are a great source of 'new product' says White Knight product manager Andrew Benikos, with metal and timber chairs, tables and sun loungers some of the most sought after items by cash-strapped DIYers.

"Council kerb-side collections offer a rich variety of furniture - from classic to vintage to contemporary - that can often be made to look as new, or even turned into a hip feature piece, with just a light sand and a new coat of paint - and maybe a minor repair," Benikos said.

White Knight's Rust Guard is an epoxy enamel that transforms any rusty surface into a tough gloss finish in one application. Available in thousands of colours it both primes and top coats new or rusted ferrous metals which will extend the life of the product and offer long-lasting metal protection.

For timber furniture that needs a new look, White Knight Paints' Squirts is an aerosol enamel gloss in a palette of more than 50 colours that gives a professional finish to all timber surfaces as well as most other primed or sealed surfaces, both indoors and outside.

White Knight's Tile Paint are for the bathrooms and includes the three-step process (cleaning, priming and then top-coating). It will transform discoloured, dated tiles by applying a high gloss, hardwearing finish.
