Edmonds, together with ebm-papst, has won the AIRAH excellence award in HVAC for ecopower, a hybrid ventilation with electronic commutation motor technology.

The award was announced at the annual Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air-conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) awards presentation.

AIRAH is a specialist organisation for air-conditioning, refrigeration, heating and ventilation professionals.

The Excellence Award in HVAC recognises a distinguished Australian product, invention or innovation in heating, ventilation or air conditioning.

Edmonds and ebm-papst teamed up together to develop ecopower, a hybrid vent that can halve power consumption and reduce noise by approximately 10dB in comparison to standard axial mechanical roof ventilation units, whilst maintaining the same flow rates.

The ecopower design allows the wind turbine itself to be used as a centrifugal impeller when running in powered mode, or it can run on wind power alone, offering natural ventilation for no cost.

The ecopower is currently available in five sizes: 100 mm, 1,500 mm, 400 mm, 600 mm and the recently developed 900 mm throat diameter .
