The Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) has reappointed its Chair and elected two new Deputy Chairs.

Tony Arnel was reappointed GBCA Chairman for the next year. Mr Arnel has recently announced that he is stepping down from his position as Victorian Building and Plumbing Commissioner to pursue his passions in the green building space.

“I am delighted to continue my role as Chairman of the Green Building Council of Australia. We have an ambitious agenda for 2012 and beyond, which aims to extend Green Star’s reach and influence. I look forward to working closely with our member companies this year to further the Council’s aim of building a sustainable future,” Mr Arnel said.

Daniel Grollo, Chief Executive Officer of Grocon, and Siobhan Toohill, Stockland’s General Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability, have been appointed deputy chairs.

Daniel Grollo is a non-executive director on the Bluescope Steel Board, and has previously served as National President of the Property Council of Australia.

“I am very pleased to continue my association with the Green Building Council of Australia, its board and executive in our work to promote sustainability across the Australian built form,” said Mr Grollo.

Siobhan Toohill is a director of the Australian Building Codes Board. She is also a member of the federal government's Built Environment Industry Innovation Council and chairs the Property Council of Australia's National Sustainability Round table.

“I’m honoured to take on the role of Co-Deputy Chair as the GBCA embarks on its tenth year, evolving its reach beyond green buildings to sustainable communities and cities,” said Siobhan.
