Harbord Diggers has undergone a water and energy efficiency upgrade funded by the NSW government's Climate Change Fund.

The club will install water flow restriction valves on all taps and shower heads, as well as energy efficient lights.

Administered by the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, 247 organisations including Harbord Diggers secured funding under the Public Facilities Program. Together, the projects will collectively save 125 million litres of water annually and 4,560t of greenhouse has emissions.

According to Harbord Diggers general manager, Andrew Lauridsen, the project is expected to help the club reach a saving of 4.2 million litres of water and 4,266 kWh per annum.

The project builds on a number of activities undertaken at Harbord Diggers to become more sustainable and water efficient such as the installation of waterless urinal solutions and a 5,000L water tank last year to maintain the club's grounds.

Work on the project is underway and scheduled to be completed by March 2010
