Entries are now open for the Hettich Design Challenge Award 2012, which will be held at the DesignEX design event.

The Design Challenge aims to attract Australia’s top professional young designers to compete with their peer and promote their skill and their supporting company.

Supported by the Design Institute of Australia, the three-day contest pits four finalists against each other, on-site at designEX 2012 (Sydney Exhibition Centre, 14-16 May, 2012), competing for a $2,500 cash prize.

“Entry is free, the rules are simple and the prize is fantastic, but it’s the onsite experience which is the most valuable as the competition unfolds live on the show floor” explains DIA’s Nick Karkovasitis who has created this year’s Hettich Design Challenge brief.

The 2012 brief is centred on creating storage solutions from Hettich components for high-density living spaces, a theme that is “particularly relevant for the changing Australian architectural landscape” says Karkovasitis.

Using three components from a range of Hettich parts, finalists will be free to create integrated, free standing or mobile storage solutions, intended for any part of the home.

The Design Challenge is open to professional junior designers with a maximum of three years’ experience, with support from their firm.

Entries close March 25.
