Australia’s Housing Industry Association (HIA) has elected Mr Ron Dwyer as its new National President.

HIA Managing Director, Mr Goodwin made the announcement at the Association's annual National Policy Congress, held in Brisbane.

"Mr Dwyer has served on the Board of HIA for over a decade, with much of that period as the Association's Treasurer," said Mr Goodwin.

"Ron has also spent his career in the building industry both as a contractor as well as running a large manufacturing business that produces building products, giving him the experience and industry knowledge to take on this role."

Ron Dwyer is the Principal of the Western Australia based Jason Windows, one of Australia's largest window manufacturing companies.

He has been a member of HIA for 30 years, serving on numerous committees, before being elected as the Regional President of Western Australia in 1999. In 2001 Mr Dwyer joined the National Board of HIA, and the following year was elected National Treasurer, holding both positions for over a decade.

In 2006 Ron Dwyer was awarded Life Membership to HIA for services to the association and the building industry.

Mr Dwyer replaces Immediate Past President Stuart Wilson, who has completed his two year term.
