ISIS’ dedication to sustainability has been recognised at the 2012 Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Australia Excellence Awards, taking home the ‘Innovation in Design’ Award.
ISIS received the award for their commitment to promoting and sourcing FSC certified wood products for the fitout of their new Brisbane office at Level 5, 175 Eagle Street, which has been registered for FSC project certification.
“As a founding member company of the Green Building Council of Australia and a member of FSC Australia, ISIS’ involvement in the continual development of sustainable design and construction principles is a core value of our business philosophy,” said Mr Joshua Bruce, ISIS Sustainability, Safety and Quality Group Manager.
“Given our ongoing commitment in this area, we are absolutely thrilled to receive this award as acknowledgement of our work in helping to promote sustainability in the construction industry.”
ISIS has been assessing opportunities to increase the use of responsibly managed forestry and wood products on its construction projects.
“The new Brisbane office provided an ideal opportunity for ISIS to develop and pilot its chain of custody system to verify the source of wood products, which can now be applied to other projects across the country,” Bruce said.
The decision to register the fit out for FSC project certification (2012, SCS-PRO-004337) set an additional benchmark to the targeted 5 Star Green Star Office Interiors v1.1 rating.
Bruce said that the Brisbane office fitout had provided valuable lessons on how to specify and source responsibly managed wood and that ISIS is now keen to apply this experience to other projects, where clients have a clear objective to use responsibly managed wood products in their fitouts.
