Western Australia Planning Minister John Day has announced the next land release at Perry Lakes following a successful land auction in December.

The release on Saturday, February 19, in the project’s Garden Belt, comprises 13 lots ranging in size from 327sqm to 529sqm.

The State Government has made a significant investment in the historic former 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games site which has been transformed into a sought-after residential estate.

Day said: “More than 300 people attended the Perry Lakes auction last December where 13 lots were sold on the drop of the hammer and a further three sold in the same week.”

The Minister said that during 2011 key milestones planned for the estate included commencement of Stage 2 construction works and the removal of the grandstand.

“Sustainability measures have been an important outcome of the project, including recycling of the stadium’s disused wooden seating into an attractive boardwalk, reuse of basketball court flooring, restoration of the lake’s edge and removal of weeds and planting more than 55,000 native plants,” Day said.

Since February 2006, LandCorp on behalf of the State Government has taken the project through concept planning, extensive community and stakeholder consultation, structure planning and subdivision design.
