The Mirvac Group has signed up as a Major Climate Partner with The Climate Institute.
The Climate Institute is an independent research organisation wholly focused on finding solutions to combat climate change. Their vision is for “a resilient Australia prospering in a low carbon global economy, participating fully and fairly in international climate change solutions”.
John Connor, CEO The Climate Institute, comments:
“The central role of business in helping build a smarter, cleaner and more resilient Australia is one of the primary reasons we launched the Climate Partner program in 2010.
“Mirvac is a great addition to our group of leading businesses who all share an understanding of both the risks and opportunities of the climate challenge.”
Mirvac’s managing director Nicholas Collishaw said: “Our approach is outcomes-based, which is evident in our public commitment to achieving the sustainability actions published in our annual Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Report.
“We are proud to become a Major Climate Partner to further enhance our position at the forefront of climate change research and action.
“Mirvac continues to pursue a program aimed at improving the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas performance of our real estate assets. Unconditionally, our core focus remains on the efficient operation of the large number of assets across our real estate portfolio covering the commercial, retail, industrial and residential sectors.”
This partnership follows Mirvac’s announcement being internationally recognised as one of the top-scoring companies in the Carbon Disclosure Project (“CDP”) disclosure and performance indices.
