A new laminated veneer lumber (LVL) roofing system from Wesbeam allows stick roofs to be constructed without the use of steel.

e-beam2 combines Wesbeam’s e-beam and e-splay products with span tables for specifiers and quick connection details for carpenters to create a comprehensive roofing system. It takes just three steps to select the right beams for any project, making the transition from steel to LVL simple.

To develop e-beam2, Wesbeam worked closely with roof carpenters and MiTek Australia to create carpenter-friendly connection details that enable quick beam- to-beam connection. By using a MiTek SplitHanger or a Wesbeam e-ledger, a fully engineered connection detail is assured for all load conditions in the e-beam2 span tables.

Wesbeam has also released e-beam+ [F17], LVL that is engineered to offer structural properties that are equivalent to or better than hardwood F17. It is available in section sizes and lengths from 2.4m to 7.2m, with lengths up to 12.6m available on request. The product features high load bearing capacities and is designed to be stronger yet lighter.
