A new Australian PV system optimisation app has been formally launched at the Practical Building Solutions in a Changing Climate conference in Hobart.
The national gathering for the Australian Solar Council was subtitled “Solar Options for Homes and Small Businesses in Cool Temperate Climates” and covered all aspects of renewable energy for the built environment.
The new PV_OptiMizer application introduced by Exemplary at the conference, determines annual average and monthly average daily electricity produced by a specified PV cell, panel or array when pointed in whatever direction.
Sensors within the smart phone/pad detect changes in azimuth (orientation) and tilt (slope) which then allow the application to refer to current climate solar and temperature data tables in order to determine average daily electricity produced for the same positioning as the phone/pad.
Exemplary has designed the new application for architects, engineers and PV retailers as a simple means of explaining and demonstrating the importance of panel orientation to clients.
The design professional version allows full design capability compliant with Clean Energy Council guidelines for 100 locations across Australia.
