Northern Territory Environment minister, Karl Hampton, is urging residents to take advantage of the Territory Government's Energy Smart Rebate Scheme.

"Under the Scheme, householders can claim a 50 per cent rebate of up to $200 on the purchase and installation cost of selected energy saving items," Hampton says.

Having been in place for almost three months, the Scheme has so far delivered more than $6,000 in rebates to Territorians.

Householders can save more than 1,300 kg per year of greenhouse gas emissions from their home by using energy smart products such as 15W compact fluorescent light globes, a solar hot water booster relay switch and energy saving powerboards.
