A new AGL Energy Limited Smarter Living online centre includes tools which allow users to research and compare product specifications, energy efficiency ratings, availability and prices of the products they may require.

The website complements the launch of ten flagship AGL Smarter Living retail stores this October to meet the growing demand for customer end-to-end energy solutions.

The opening of the stores marks the roll out of a new franchising model whereby the goods and services that were separately provided by AGL Energy Shops and AGL Assist are now all available in the one retail outlet, supported with access to the AGL Smarter Living online centre.

AGL says it is a new concept in the Australian market, as each store provides access to a broad selection of energy efficient products, as well as essential electrical and gas fitting services, supporting appliance installation, maintenance and repairs.

The stores also specialise in the provision of general electrical and plumbing services, solar hot water and solar PV, all in one easily accessible location.

Franchisees of the new AGL Smarter Living retail stores are qualified trade professionals and can provide expert advice on urgent repairs, heating and cooling products and energy efficient appliances.  AGL customers can also learn about energy saving techniques, in order to save energy and save money around the home.

Mark Brownfield, AGL General Manager Marketing & Retail Sales, said AGL Smarter Living is well positioned to engage new customers, extend conversations with existing customers and become a central point to meet home energy needs at each stage of their lives.

“At AGL we are developing our product and service offering to meet the needs of our customers.  The provision of end-to-end energy solutions in one easily accessible location, where customers can speak to qualified tradespeople, was a natural evolution for us.

“The AGL Smarter Living retail stores sit within franchised territories giving each franchisee ownership of the sales and service function in their area. We are very excited to introduce this model, as it unifies our current retail and service offerings, bringing together the convenience of our online centre and the accessibility of AGL’s face to face energy expertise, allowing us to provide energy solutions across the community.”

AGL is opening the first ten retail stores in October in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Over the next year AGL will launch a wider network of AGL Smarter Living stores across these states.
