Plans for a $65 million hotel development on the corner of Grenfell Street and Twin Street in Adelaide, have been approved by the State’s Development Assessment Commission.

Hines Property will commence construction of the 17-storey hotel later this year ahead of projected completion in 2014.

Construction works will include demolition of the existing buildings on-site with the hotel to include 300 guest rooms, food and beverage facilities, fitness centre, conference and meeting spaces, guest lounge and business facilities.

Hines Property Managing Director James Hines said the company is looking forward to breaking ground on the project in the second half of 2012, which is expected to create more than 200 jobs during construction and then 80 permanent positions once the hotel opens.

This latest project marks the fifth major development undertaken by Hines Property in the Hindmarsh Square precinct having recently completed the nearby $100 million Crowne Plaza Adelaide hotel and the adjoining $50 million 20 Hindmarsh Square apartments complex.

Hines Property also developed the $70 million Conservatory on Hindmarsh Square, the $30 million Domain Apartments development and the $50 million Mantra on Hindmarsh Square serviced apartments development.
