The winners in the 2012 Melbourne Design Awards have been announced, including Brightgreen and Braemar in product categories.

Brightgreen’s D900 Cube has taken home the award for Lighting Product Design and Seeley International’s Braemar Six Star Ducted Gas Heating Range won in Housing and Building.

Brightgreen  say the D900 Cube impressed the judges with its square beam that allows greater control and aesthetic alignment with straight edge spaces. They were also impressed by the downlight's efficiency.

The Braemar six star ducted gas heating range is the first and only in the world to break the six star barrier.

The MDAs are open across six major categories – Space, Visual, Object, Fashion, Experience and Marketplace and feature a wide range of sub-categories covering excellence across fields including products and furnishings, architecture, interiors, landscape design, advertising graphic design, fashion, photography and digital media. 

The Awards attracted 550 entries from which the Cube was shortlisted.

The vision behind the awards has been to grow the conversation around design, champion and celebrate both those that commission design and also create design, our 2012 mission has been a great success. And 2013 is already in planning’.

Now in its 3rd year the MDAs and are open to emerging and professional designers and to those who commission design.
