Design Brief
The project is a catalyst for reinvigorating the Elysium Residential Development in Noosa, a 27 Ha residential community consisting of 158 lots.
The design of the Elysium Recreation Club, a small but significant facility, had to compliment the existing 31 architecturally designed houses on the site, and demonstrate the new developers commitment to the Elysium community.
AV Jennings acquired the development in 2009 after the previous developer was placed into receivership.
The previous developer commissioned 12 significant Australian architects to design speculative homes on a section of the site. These were completed at the beginning of the Global Financial Crisis.
Design Solution
Biscoe Wilson Architects in Conjunction with AV Jennings designed and documented a new community recreation club at the Elysium Noosa development.
The linear design comprises two pavilions facing a man made lake.
The pavilions contain entertainment and recreation functions for the residents of the exclusive housing estate.
Material Considerations
The building is being designed using Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principals and will feature both passive and active ESD devices.
Photovoltaics will generate power for common area and building lighting. Water will be harvested for irrigation and toilet flushing.
Low embodied energy materials will also be selected for use on the project.
