James Hardie gives a rundown on why Scyon™ Axon™ is a smart choice when it comes to cladding.
Q: Describe the product.
A: Scyon™ Axon™ cladding is a vertically grooved cladding panel that looks sharp and smooth. Pre-primed and easy to install, Scyon™ Axon™ cladding is a pristine look that lasts.
Q: What applications can it be used in?
A: In residential applications wherever a modern design is required, including external walls in composite construction, upper-storey and ground-level extensions and internal feature walls.
Q: What options are offered?
A: There are three different lengths available:
- 2,450 mm x 1,200 mm x 9 mm
- 2,750 mm x 1,200 mm x 9 mm
- 3,000 mm x 1,200 mm x 9 mm
Q: How does its unique, fast installation make the builder’s life easier?
A: The stepped shiplap on the long edges of Axon™ cladding means sheets are easily installed. Paint application is fast because the pre-primed sheets mean less paint and time is needed to achieve a high-quality finish. Finally, sheets are sized to fit common wall-frame sizes, which means less waste and cutting.
Q: How does the product deliver cost effectiveness?
A: There are a few different ways Axon™ cladding delivers cost effectiveness. Firstly, you only need two tradespeople to install the product — a carpenter and painter. As the product is pre-primed, your painter spends less time preparing the product and achieves a high quality finish quickly.
The standard sizing of the product also means there is less time cutting the product to specification. All of this means a more efficient work site, saving time and money.
Q: What is the product made of?
A: Axon™ cladding is made from Scyon™, the advanced lightweight cement composite with heavy-duty performance. Not only is it resistant to damage from termites, rot and fire, but it can also be gun nailed and is easy to cut — like timber. Axon™ cladding has a 10-year product warranty when installed and maintained correctly.
To add to this, its inherent stability means Scyon™ Axon™ cladding can also be painted in darker colours.
Q: Does the product have any ratings?
A: Axon™ cladding can enhance energy efficiency. When the product is used with the right insulation (and in accordance with James Hardie’s Wall System Thermal Performance Total R-Values Technical Supplement), a R-value of up to 2.7 can be achieved for the wall.
Q: How does the product compare to similar products?
A: The vertical grooves — sharp and consistent, providing a uniform look — are a design alternative to typical horizontal features. The option of brad nailing min imises visual interruption. Axon™ cladding can also be used to add texture as an eave or soffit lining.
