Q: Describe the product - how does it work? What applications can it be used in?
A: Specifically designed to protect against termite attack in areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn, Hyne T2 Blue is an extremely low-cost termite protection.
Providing a whole-of-frame solu tion, Hyne T2 Blue is non-toxic, com pletely safe for use around children and in family homes and comes with a 25-year guaranteed protection against structural damage by ter mites. This makes it ideal for any extension or renovation project, as well as new home construction.
Q: What is the product made of?
A: Hyne T2 Blue is made from responsibly-sourced plantation tim ber and envelope treated with a termite resistant solution. The active constituent - bifenthrin - is biodegradable and does not leave long-term residues. Our special dip ping process means that the protec tive treatment achieves greater pen etration than other methods.
Q: How long does the treatment last?
A: Hyne T2 Blue is guaranteed for 25 years for protection against termite attack, indicating that the treatment is very stable in the expected usage conditions and should last at least for the normal economic life of any dwelling. A 25-year transferable guarantee is available for all Hyne T2 Blue framing.
Q: How is the product installed? Does it have any special installation requirements?
A: Hyne T2 Blue couldn't be easier to use and is installed like any other softwood frame or truss. It is totally safe to handle and doesn't require additional equipment. Off-cuts and sawdust from Hyne T2 Blue are not classified as a hazardous waste and hence can be disposed of through normal waste collection and disposal services.
Q: Will Hyne T2 Blue corrode metal fittings or fasteners?
A: As the preservative formulation is non-corrosive, normal steel nails and plates are suitable for use as fixings. Once dry, the preservative will not affect nail or plate holding capacity.
Q: What about cutting Hyne T2 Blue?
A: Independent scientific testing has confirmed that Hyne T2 Blue can be cut, notched or drilled without any requirement for the exposed surface or the cut ends to be resealed. However, in instances where the sur face has been re-sawn, ripped or heavily planed, Hyne advocates the use of a re-sealer.
Q: Does the product have any ratings?
A: Hyne T2 Blue is a H2F level treat ment that complies with AS1604, the Timber Utilisation and Marketing Act in Queensland and the Timber Marketing Act in NSW. It meets the requirements (south of the Tropic of Capricorn) as a termite resistant tim ber as specified in the Building Code of Australia.
Q: Does the product save energy, heat, water or other resources when used?
A: The rapid construction of timber frames enables savings on large overheads and holding costs. A sim plified construction program requires only a single contractor for the entire framework. It is easier and faster to install electrical and plumbing servic es and can cut down on wet trades such as bricklayers and block layers, resulting in an improved workflow and less downtime.
Q: Is the product environmentally friendly? If so, how?
A: Timber products are the most eco-friendly construction material as they use the only truly renewable resource. Across its life cycle, a plan tation pine timber product is also an important carbon sink. A recent CSIRO study showed that Hyne structural softwood framing sequesters over three times the car bon emitted during their entire pro duction cycle.
The use of Hyne T2 Blue with safe organic based preservatives may also reduce or eliminate the need for other chemicals in the form of ground barrier treatments.
