Cemintel Fibre Cement Systems has launched Residential RendaLine, a lightweight façade system for residential buildings. The system has been designed for residential and small commercial projects and is suitable for upper-storey additions. It can be used on new and existing homes, extensions and light commercial applications.

The launch of the product coincides with growth in the total expenditure by Australian homeowners on second-storey extensions. In 2005, the figure stood at $1.05 billion, rising to $1.147 billion in 2006, according to the Housing Industry Association’s Renovations Monitor December 2006.

Residential RendaLine allows builders and renovators to produce the look of rendered masonry-style exteriors with the ease of lightweight construction to offer a sleek, contemporary look. The system utilises a standard timber or steel structural frame with a batten spacer fixed to the outside of the framing.

RendaLine sheets are then affixed to the battens. It can be used in conjunction with other Cemintel products, such as RendaLine Preformed Reveals, Window Sills and Corners to form corners, recessed windows and door openings to complete the cladding process. Cemintel’s Jointing and Coating system can then be applied to provide a seamless, durable finish.
