The Australian and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (ANZSES) has just published a revised 4th edition of the Australian Solar Radiation Data Handbook (ASRDH), a useful tool when considering designs related to solar energy, including solar water heating and passive solar buildings.

The ASRDH provides a range of information including climatic conditions as well as a full range of solar radiation data and statistics. Solar radiation data is available for flat planes at any incline and orientation, for any hour of the year. Furthermore, equivalent data is available for planes that track the sun’s path throughout the year and for the solar energy entering through standard window glazing. This edition contains additional data, from improved data collection tools and refined algorithms to better account for the cloud cover and beam radiation, all of which provides superior accuracy.

Australian Solar Radiation Data Handbook (ASRDH), 948 pp; Standard price: $104 for one state or $320 for all Australian sites.

Accompanying AUSOLRAD software with manual. Standard Price: $40 for one state or $80 for all Australian sites.

The ASRDH is available on CD-ROM and in hardcopy from ANZSES (www.anzses.org or 02 9402 1638). The ANZSES member discount of 20 per cent has been negotiated for BPN readers.
