TDA Interiors has managed the $1.2 million design and construct fitout of the new office for insurance solutions firm, Calliden, which recently consolidated its offices from three separate locations to Innovation Place, 100 Arthur Street, North Sydney.

Initially, TDA Interiors worked in conjunction with property advisers, architects and the client to identify the most suitable premises. An open plan flow was a criteria for the internal design, with reception, boardroom and breakout area integrated to form an open entertaining area with large sliding doors and bi-folds. Offices around the perimeter took full advantage of the harbour views and living plants complimented the reception and boardroom.

With sustainability a key consideration for TDA and Calliden, Innovation Place has a commitment to a 4 star Green Star rating and 5 star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating (ABGR).

Sustainability initiatives included:

  • demolition waste on the Calliden site was separated into recyclables and there was strict adherence to base building requirements
  • noise pollution was minimised by baffled cutting rooms and completing noisy works after hours
  • chilled beams were installed throughout, which allows lower energy consumption and operating costs
  • wireless networking was installed throughout the offices, while an integrated security system was incorporated into the base building system

Finishes included double aluminium framed glazed sliding American Oak timber veneer doors, flocke blackout fibreglass fabric blinds in the boardroom and Forbo Marmoleum Dual Topshield flooring for the café breakout. Gray Puksand was appointed architect on the project, with Medland Metropolis as service engineers.
