Grundfos Pumps has launched the Pump Genie.

It is an interconnect device which allows consumers to save potable water by using their harvested rainwater for toilet, laundry and garden applications.

The pump enables the use of two different water supplies — mains water and rainwater. Always prioritising the use of rainwater, the Pump Genie will automatically switch over to a mains water source when the rainwater tank is running low or during electrical failure.

The pump itself is only active when the rainwater is being drawn from the tank and does not operate when the Pump Genie has switched to mains water.

The pump controller automatically starts and stops the pump when a demand is sensed, for example, flushing a toilet or filling a washing machine.

The Grundfos pump includes a dual check valve for low hazard backflow prevention, making connection between mains water and rainwater possible. It is suitable for use with both above and below ground rainwater tanks and has Water Mark approval.
