The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has updated its original version of the lighting calculator as well as developing new glazing calculators which aim to help users meet the National Construction Code (NCC).
The new version lighting calculator, v2.20, is available as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet which adds to the already 20 glazing calculators available to account for:
· BCA/NCC Edition;
· BCA Volume;
· Glazing Method (applicable to pre-2010 BCA Volume One calculators);
· Microsoft Excel version (including Mac and Windows compatibility); and
· Number of data input rows shown by default.
The NCC said:
"The building sector is a significant contributor and one of the fastest growing sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Energy used in buildings accounts for approximately 20 per cent of all energy related GHG emissions.
Consequently the industry has an extremely important role in contributing to the abatement of Australia's GHG emissions and in delivering economic, as well as social and environmental benefits to the community."
