Brintons' was commissioned in 2006 to supply carpet for the next six ships to join the AIDA fleet.
AIDAblu is the fourth vessel in the series and was launched in March this year.
Brintons was asked by Partner Ship Design — the company responsible for shaping the interior of each ship — to design and manufacture contemporary, commercial carpet which would be used in all of the public areas and passenger cabins onboard AIDAblu.
All of the carpet designs needed to have a distinctly contemporary feel and utilise a vivid colour palette that would play a leading role in creating a feeling of happiness, celebration and care-free relaxation onboard AIDAblu.
Brintons elected to use bright and emotional colours like warm yellows, rich lilacs and strong primary colours in conjunction with striking large-scale patterns that included circles and swirls, as well as bold shapes from the natural world.
"The AIDAblu ship is an example of all that is good about Brintons' contemporary design capabilities and use of colour. The interior of the vessel is a stunning and vibrant space and all of the different design elements and colour flow seamlessly," says James Brighton, Brintons' marine manager.
"To deliver a successful interior to a cruise ship, the understanding between the supplier, the owner and the shipyard is vital. The quality that Brintons delivers is exceptional on every occasion and that is accepted and appreciated by everyone involved," says Kai Bunge, senior partner at Partner Ship Design.
