Sergeants’ Mess, Chowder Bay, Spangenberg + Park
Located just 15km from the CBD on the water’s edge in a Sydney national park, this former 60s military building has undergone a $3.8 million renovation.
The building uses solar hot water, rainwater tanks, low energy kitchen appliances and low wattage lighting, as well as an unique 100 mile food and wine menu in which 99 percent of ingredients are sourced from within 100 mile radius of the venue.
The external building was redeveloped by architects Lacoste + Stevenson, with interiors by Manuel Spinola and Spangenberg + Park.
Sergeants’ Mess, which opened earlier this month, will provide events for from 20 to 350 people.
Lacoste + Stevenson is a design-based architectural practice established in 1997 by Thierry Lacoste and David Stevenson.
