The 2011 Dulux Colour Awards will be celebrating its 25th anniversary when winners of the awards are announced next year on 30th of March at the Paddington Town Hall. The panel of judges for the awards includes designers Kirrily Johnston, Kerry Phelan and Brian Zulaikha.
The awards acknowledge innovation in colour in Architecture and Design and supports architects, specifiers, designers and students in Australia and the South Pacific.
Founder of Kerry Phelan Design, fashion designer and 2011 judge Kirrily Johnston says colour is an important part of design.
“From a fashion perspective, colour is one of the pillars in the design palette,” she says.
“In my work with Dulux so far I’ve loved applying my skills in this new area, so from a creative viewpoint, I applaud the encouragement the Dulux Colour Awards gives to all designers in expanding the use of colour in our built environment.”
Based in Sydney, Johnston’s aim is to blend elegance with innovation and focusing on quality craftsmanship. She says colour is an emotive concept and she is honoured to take part in the award’s ‘Add Your Colours to History’ campaign.
Brian Zulaikha is a founding partner of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and the National President Elect of the Australian Institute of Architects. Greer has a special interest in environmentally sustainable design and has undertaken several projects specifically associated with the principles of environmentally sustainable design.
Greer says he is honoured to be a panel judge for the 25th Anniversary of the awards.
“Dulux has been a household brand name since the mid 1900's and the Dulux Awards, celebrating its 25th Anniversary, has been an amazing catalyst for advancing the world of colour - introducing subtlety, shade and nuance,” Greer says.
