These images propose a series of eco-pods on moveable robotic arms as a good use for abandoned construction sites.

Howeler & Yoon and Squared Design Lab were challenged by their local newspaper, The Boston Globe, to come up with a way of utilizing the city’s many stalled construction projects.

The resulting plan proposes to fill a deserted block with these pods full of biofuel producing algae.

The micro-algae can be grown vertically on non-arable land, which would make the structure carbon net positive.

The voids between the pods would form a network of public parks and botanical gardens.
