This newly-completed social housing block in Madrid is a 21,550sqm block divided into 30 smaller, staggered blocks of apartments, with communal outside areas dotted throughout the building.

The façade is made from concrete coated with a polyurethane that creates shimmering effect with the light. The building consists of 146 one, two and three bedroom apartments that are affordably priced on behalf of client EMVS, the public housing corporation of the city of Madrid.

The building features floor-to-ceiling windows throughout and each apartment can cross ventilate through two or three facades.

Underneath the building a parking garage on two levels provides 165 parking spaces. The ground floor offers room for six individual retail units.

The nearby Mirador building was also a collaboration between MVRDV and Blanca Lleó in 2005.
