The latest instalment to the $2 billion mixed-use Central Park precinct, a 12 storey residential building by Smart Design Studio, has officially been launched by the property managers.
‘Connor’ is the fourth residential stage to date and the first residential release for two years. It is situated in the south-west corner of Central Park– 8 Central Park Avenue, and comprises 178 apartments, many of which will enjoy views of the landscaped open spaces of Central Park – including the Brewery Yard and One Central Park’s cantilever and lighting artwork.
Connor is clad in reflective copper-coloured fins which vary slightly in alignment and angle across the building to create a ‘lenticular’ effect. The luminous fins provide privacy to the occupants of Connor and are said to take inspiration from the red brick architecture dominating the neighbouring streets of Chippendale.
Smart Design Studio were announced the architects back in October as winners of a design competition with principal William Smart announcing then that the design would be focussed on linking the city with Chippendale, and privacy.
“Our design intent was to create a link between Chippendale and the southern edge of the Sydney CBD. We wanted to create a building that offered privacy to its occupants and beauty to the passersby,” said William Smart of Smart Design Studio back in October.
Like the rest of the residences within the Central Park precinct, the interiors of the new Connor building are being marketed on their “trend-setting” details. Occupants can choose from three colour schemes to complement their apartment’s accessories such as the kitchen’s ceramic benchtops and splashbacks (sourced from Italy), and the timber-look wall cladding with curved detailing in bathrooms. All of Connor’s apartments meet the mandatory light and ventilation requirements via balconies, loggia, courtyards or – on the upper levels – larger terraces.
Residents of Connor will be given access to a private lounge and cardio room, plus a rooftop terrace with jacuzzi and outdoor kitchen.
Pricing was a closely held secret until private sales appointments commenced on 30 October. One bedroom suites are priced from $565,000, 1 bedroom apartments from $640,000, 2 bedroom apartments from $1.07 million and popular dual key apartments from $1.08 million.
